You're not supposed to have the Gloria or Credo.

We had a solemn high Nuptial Mass but had to do the Credo before the processional hymm.

Originally we were told we wouldn't have the Gloria and Credo, but then I guess Father figured out what Samuel just said and we were able to have them.

And yes you can have a Solemn High for a nuptial Mass. Indeed, two of the esteemed members of the society did two years ago.

Indeed... you could have your marraige witnessed by and the nuptial Mass celebrated by a Bishop.

However, there is always a Gloria if the Missa pro Sponsis is said. The Missa Pro Sponsis is a Votive Mass of the 2nd Class (and not celebrated in Violet vestments), and thus has a Gloria.

See O'Connell "The Celebration of Mass" (1964) pg. 65.

Very nice! And congratulations.

Coincidentally, I was reading Fortescue last night, specifically the part about Nuptial Mass. It only seems to mention Missa Cantata. But surely one can have a Solemn High Mass (with deacon and subdeacon) wedding? Also, the Gloria and Credo are omitted in Nuptial Masses? Surely there's away around this!

I ask, because I am greedy, and when (or if) I marry, I want it all!
