Thank you, Discipule. Of course, there are so many paths by which people approach the faith; one is always a bit abashed in relating the details of one's own case, for fear of, as Chesterton put it, making the thing look less large than it really is. Conversion is so mysterious. However, in my case, I think some of the details really might shed some light on the Mormon case, because apostates from Mormonism have almost always gone through a process of ceasing to trust authority. Mormonism is, after all, a religion that also relies heavily on the words of authorities, and I think this has something to do with the fact that apostates so rarely run out and join other religions with a strong authoritative structure. You find them in Unitarian churches, or in liberal Protestant churches, or, unfortunately, in no churches at all. Having been "fooled" once, they're gunshy. Anyway, I have more to say on this topic, but not right now. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you, Clara, for these reflections. Not having “been there” myself it’s interesting to hear how you discovered the Faith in Its fullness. It appears that sincerity in looking for the truth coupled with prayer is the answer. And of course as you say the mercy of God and His grace. I think that’s good to know when dealing with those outside the Fold.
