What’s in a name

The latest good word from “Tiny” Muskens:

The Dutch bishop admitted that his suggestion was not likely to gain widespread acceptance. But he predicted that within a century or two, Dutch Catholics would be addressing prayers to “Allah.”

Given the demographics of Holland, I heartily concur! Wait - there are Catholics in Holland?

This thought struck Diogenes when he saw the story:

Look at it this way: If Dutch Christians catch the bishop’s enthusiasm for condoms, pretty soon everyone in the country will be praying to Allah.

This I say today (8/16):

“A survey in the Netherlands’ biggest-selling newspaper De Telegraaf on Wednesday found 92 percent of the more than 4,000 people polled disagreed with the bishop’s view, which also drew ridicule.

“Sure. Lets call God Allah. Lets then call a church a mosque and pray five times a day. Ramadan sounds like fun,” Welmoet Koppenhol wrote in a letter to the newspaper.

Iosephus - you are a total jackass.

Dear Master: this is one of the more colorfully worded replies I’ve received to a post on this blog. Do you resent my characterization of the demographics of Holland or of the Catholic practice of its remaining white inhabitants?

Well, the fact that you refer to the “Catholic practice of its remaining white inhabitants” suggests that you are a bigot, in addition to a jackass. Any concern for its non-white Catholics, Iosephus?

    Didn’t think so.

As someone who travels there for business, with frequency, attends mass there whenever possible, I can assure you that there are plenty of non-white Catholics in Holland, and they deserve your care, as well.

I apologize if I offended any of my darker skinned brethren in Holland.

Sadly, it won’t save them when sharia comes.

“darker skinned brethren”? Way to go Iosephus, confirming the worst stereotypes about traditional Catholics. I used to visit this site for sensible commentary on contemporary Catholicism, but this is going to be the last click. I really had no idea it was moderated by cretins and racists. This is just pathetic. I can’t believe what I’m reading.

What did I say that was wrong? Since I’m a very white brother, are the non-whites you speak of not darker skinned than I??

Master George, are you a partisan of “Tiny”? Is that why you’re all in a bother?
