Of course, I meant Archbishop Burke of St. Louis, formerly of La Crosse, WI. I see him as precedent for better things to come -- a "conservative" bishop from a small Midwestern see who has both strong curial connections and good credentials in supporting Indult parishes and orders.

Maybe Bishop Doran from my home diocese, Rockford, IL, is in line as well. When Archbishop Wasteland, er Weakland (is that any better?) of Milwaukee went out in his rainbow blaze of glory, my onetime parish priest said that Doran was the definite choice. Perhaps he was held back for a bigger see. Just as Bishop Burke in La Crosse had curial credentials in the Segnatura, Bishop Doran was in the Roman Rota. Then again, maybe I'm just feeding the gossip mill myself . . . the man confirmed me, so I'm not objective.

Cardinal Merry del Val is the author of the "Humility Litany" which should be a required discipline for a goodly number of Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

http://feastofsaints.com/lithumility.htm

For private devotions only!

"Cardinal" Burskewitz?! DON'T TEASE!!!! Given the havoc wreaked by "Call to Action" folks and bishop Gum Drops in Detroit, it would be only too much to see him go in and fire off some of his famous "excommunicado" threats. What a treat that would be!
