An amazing story about a friend and honorary member of the Cornell Society for a Good Time, Fr. Bryce Sibley, is told here, at the blog Catholic Light.
It seems that God was kind to this Astros fan, though He did not give the team victory.
added later: I thought I should go ahead and directly link to the Carmelite Nuns whose prayers seemingly obtained this great grace for Fr. Sibley.
St. Louis-Marie de Montfort,
Pope St. Pius X,
St. Joseph,
St. Ambrose of Milan,
St. Thomas Aquinas,
St. Francis (and St. Clare),
St. Catherine of Siena,
St. Alphonsus Ligouri,
St. John Chrysostom,
Durnit, he was praying for the wrong thing! Just imagine if the Sisters had been praying for victory :)
I don’t even know what to make of this story. Fr. Sibley thinks that the Sisters, by their prayers, obtained for him the grace of Astros’ tickets??
If this were Michigant State / Kentucky in the Final Four, I could understand. But professional baseball?! ;)
I am impressed, though, by the concatenation of coincidences, and so my reading of this event is that, if God did provide the tickets, this was only so that Fr. Sibley might write the post which he did and, thereby, spread the knowledge of Carmel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and so, perhaps, pave the way for one more soul to take refuge behind its walls.
Did you guys look at the link? It looks like they are doing well in terms of numbers. I’m rather surprised, though, that they have added active apostolates to the Carmel charism.
